23rd Annual Business Hall of Fame Honoring Georgia’s Business LegendsLearn about Matria's history and how the company was built.
Former Georgia Governor Carl Sanders praised the character and achievements of his long-time friend, Pete Petit, before the presentation of the Hall of Fame video. View his remarks. Matria Healthcare was born out of the passion of one man who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others: Chairman and CEO, Pete Petit. Georgia State University recently inducted Petit into the Business Hall of Fame for his “business acumen and commitment to the community” and for serving “as a role model for today's business students.” Under Pete Petit’s leadership, Matria has modeled the values of thought leadership, community and philanthropy since it was formed in 1970 to develop a solution for sudden infant death syndrome. Petit has steered the company’s rise to success in the healthcare industry as the leading provider of wellness, disease management and productivity enhancement services. He has accomplished this by exemplifying his vision of philanthropy and applying this value to his company’s mission. As a result, Matria works to improve the quality of life for a vast, diverse patient population. These virtues were recognized during Petit’s recent induction into the Georgia State University Business Hall of Fame. Take a few minutes to learn how Matria evolved from a company formed out of personal tragedy to a leader in the healthcare industry today. View the video
