Matria's Informatics Department measures medical costs, pharmacy costs, length of hospital stays, use of emergency room facilities and numerous physiologic and psychosocial parameters that serve as markers of clinical status, quality of life and functional status and recidivism.

We also manage the reporting and "discovery" activities relative to our data. These include the routine reporting of outcomes to our clients as well as the continuous process of exploring our databases for new information that can reveal emerging trends and future adverse health-related events for our clients.

Matria utilizes a number of data warehousing, profiling, analysis and reporting tools to continually acquire, compile and analyze data from numerous sources. This process of measurement, evaluation and management is focused on the continued enhancement of our disease management programs.

The sharing of this knowledge with our providers and clients helps us to continually redesign and improve the capabilities and resultant outcomes of our disease management programs.

Clinical Outcomes:

Asthma - Increased appropriate use of anti-inflammatory medications by 49 percent

CHF - Improved adherence to blood pressure medications by 97 percent

Diabetes - Increased at-home blood-glucose testing by 21 percent

Cost Savings:

Asthma - Reduced hospitalizations by 38 percent

CAD - Reduced emergency room visits by 17 percent
